Contact Your Senators: $5 Billion for Library and Museum Services may be Diverted to Pay for Border Wall
A Call-to-Action by the American Alliance of Museums:
Even though Congress is on recess, critical funding decisions are being considered now. In recent days reports have noted that $5 billion may be diverted from the Senate spending bill that funds the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to pay for President Trump’s border wall. ~ American Alliance of Museums
The Alliance has provided a form letter you can work from to contact your Senators, especially if they are Members of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee.
I urge you to support $42.7 million in Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 funding for the Office of Museum Services (OMS) within the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS)–the amount approved by the U.S. House of Representatives. IMLS is an independent federal agency–funded through the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies appropriations bill–and is the primary agency responsible for helping museums connect people to information and ideas ~ Partial example text to send to your Senators.
