Call to Artists: Create a Real Seat at the Policy-Making Table!
THIS CALL TO ARTISTS INVITES INTERPRETATIONS OF THE JOURNEYS TO THE TABLE OF PROMINENT LEGISLATORS AND ACTIVISTS, BOTH HISTORICAL AND CONTEMPORARY.
The Edward M. Kennedy Institute has issued a Call to Artists to be part of an exhibit displaying your “interpretations of the journeys to the table of prominent legislators and activists, both historical and contemporary.”
20 artists will be chosen as part of this “Seat at the Table” project and offered a stipend of $1000 for the design and construction of each work.
The finished pieces must:
- Be functional seats in which visitors can sit to experience the “seat at the table.”
- Visually represent aspects of the life stories of the prominent person to whom the artist will be assigned.
- Be durable enough to withstand visitors to the Institute sitting in them, touching them, and walking around them.
