ISEA2012 is a worthy conference to submit work to and attend. Please read and follow the links for complete information.

The ISEA2012 symposium will consist of a conference September 19 – 24, 2012 based in Albuquerque with outreach days along the state’s “Cultural Corridor” in Santa Fe and Taos, and an expansive, regional collaboration throughout the fall of 2012, including art exhibitions, public events, performances and educational activities. This project will bring together a wealth of leading creative minds from around the globe, and engage the local community through in-depth partnerships.

The symposium title for 2012 is Machine Wilderness and our theme is called Radical Cosmologies. ISEA2012 is a symposium and series of events exploring the global discourse on the subject of art, technology and nature. The Radical Cosmologies theme is reaching out to international writers, artists, scientists, performers, cultural theorists and scholars to participate.

We’d like to include speakers, panels and an exhibition that explore a wide range of creative perspectives and practices around the cultural, scientific and philosophical possibilities of contemporary culture and an outsider’s view of astronomy. Our theme marks a significant creative departure from traditional and scientific notions of cosmology. We plan to explore a wide range of contemporary artist’s perspectives and practices around the cultural, educational and creative possibilities of what a Radical Cosmology could look and sound like. Our theme will incorporate electronic forms of visual art, sound, performance and installations, as well as workshops, community-based actions, lectures and online projects that will offer viewers new experiences of art, science, and technologies.

To submit papers, panels or projects to ISEA’s Radical Cosmologies theme, go to:

To read about the other ISEA themes and to create a login to apply, go to:

The deadline for submissions has been extended to November 15, 2011.

This ISEA theme is as an extension of our initial online project for viralnet.net. During 2011-12, we will work with writers, artists, scientists, performers, and scholars to further collaborate on Radical Cosmologies beyond the ISEA symposium.
