The state legislature’s Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development will hold a public hearing for Hampshire County constituents on Monday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to noon at the UMass Amherst Fine Arts Center Concert Hall.
House Chairwoman Cory Atkins and Senate Chairman Eric Lesser will host the hearing, which will allow leaders in the arts, culture, and tourism sectors to testify about their priorities and state government’s role in advancing their work.
The Joint Committee is currently making the case for state support of the arts, humanities, and sciences through the budget process and pending economic development legislation. The hearing will highlight the public value and community impact of these sectors.
