A Big Week for Advocacy in Massachusetts

March 24, 2015

This week is filled with needed advocacy!

Today is the Americans for the Arts’ National Arts Advocacy Day:

Even if you can’t get to D.C. for this, you can still contact your two U.S. Senators and your Congressperson to let them know that the arts are important and need to be supported!

On Wednesday is MasssCreative’s Arts Matter Advocacy at the Massachusetts State House! Even if you can’t go contact your State Representative and State Senator:

And participate in this important advocacy update from the MPC on the film tax credit:

Call to Action: Save MA Film Jobs

Contact your legislators today! Use the simple form linked below to oppose Governor Baker’s Proposal H.62 to eliminate the film & television tax incentive program.

mpc logoDear MPC Members & Supporters,

As you know, Governor Baker’s proposal House Bill 62 would eliminate the state’s film and television production incentive program. This bill would end thousands of jobs, have a devastating effect on local businesses across the state, and destroy a growing industry. With the Committee on Revenue hearing scheduled at the State House for March 31st, now is the time to respond!

PLEASE ACT TODAY!

Simply click (or paste) the link below to instantly email your state Senator and Representative, asking them to support the Massachusetts families that depend on the film tax incentive. Urge them to oppose the Governor’s plan, House Bill 62.

If you would like, you can edit the email to your State Senate and State Representative to tell them how repeal of the state’s film tax incentive would impact you directly. Even if you have contacted your state legislator already, you should still send them this email as well.

OTHER WAYS TO RESPOND

The Joint Committee on Revenue has scheduled a hearing for March 31st beginning at 10:30 AM on the Governor’s bill (H.62). In anticipation of this hearing, we are coordinating with our partners and industry stakeholders to present to the Revenue Committee an accurate and comprehensive portrayal of the vitality of our industry and the great economic benefit of the film and television tax incentive to the Commonwealth. We will inform you of the confirmed details of the hearing as we get them.
