NOW! What you can do to stop MCC budget cuts!
IMPORTANT!
The House Way and Means Committee released its budget on Wednesday and the result is not pretty for the arts, culture, and creative community. Ways and Means proposed a $8.2 million budget for the Massachusetts Cultural Council — a $1.5 million CUT to the Commonwealth’s investment in Massachusetts creative community.
We need to get to work and send a clear message to our representatives by Friday, April 12.
Once again, the leadership of the House has chosen to invest in our growing community at a level less than half of what it was ten years ago. The appropriation of $8.2 million will leave organizations, artist, and arts educators all across the Commonwealth without the vital resources necessary to run their programs.
Click here today to send an email to your representative urging him/her to co-sponsor Representative Atkins’ amendment to restore $4.5 million in the Massachusetts Cultural Council budget.

Despite the compelling stories we tell of the impact of the creative community on the vitality of our neighborhoods and the development our youth, the House leadership still looks at our work as nice, but not necessary.
The good news is that the budget battle is just beginning and you can make a difference. Over the next two days we need to send a clear message to the leadership of the House to show them that investing in the creative community is necessary to make Massachusetts a place where we all want to live, work, play and visit.
The House leadership needs to hear from its members today. Click here now to ask your representative to stand up for the creative community.

MASSCreative will be working the halls at the State House to follow up on your letters.
Keep up the good work and let’s work hard to move the needle on the MCC budget that has been stuck in neutral for the past five years.
