Support amendment to fix health care reform issue!

Please call your State Senator by this Thursday to support amendment #13 put forth by Senator Michael Moore- for S.2260 An Act Improving the quality of health care

This amendment fixes a problem the Artists Health Care Working Group identified years ago in the 2006 MA health care reform law which hurts organizations/businesses that hire veterans, youth workers, seniors, etc. (it fixes a key problem in the Fair Share Contribution provision in the 2006 law)

Qualifying Health Insurance Coverage

Mr. Michael O. Moore moves to amend the bill (Senate, No. 2260) by inserting, after section 114 the following section:-

“SECTION 114A. Said subsection (c) of said section 188 of said chapter 149, as so amended, is hereby further amended by adding the following clause:-

(11) In calculating the fair share assessment, employees who have qualifying health insurance coverage from a spouse, parent, veteran’s plan, Medicare, Medicaid or a plan or plans due to a disability or retirement shall not be included in the numerator or denominator for purposes of determining whether an employer is a contributing employer, as defined in 114.5 CMR 16.02.”.
