2019 Proposed Senate Ways & Means Budget (Part One)

This morning the proposed 2019 Senate Ways and Means Budget was released. This is the fifth step in the Commonwealth’s budget process.

MALC follows several line items in the State budget.  In this post, Part One, we will highlight the MCC, MassArt, and Tourism. Part Two will highlight funding for the libraries.

Amendments to the proposed Senate budget will need to be filed by noon on Monday, May 14th. The Senate will begin its debate on its budget on Tuesday, May 22nd.  MALC will post key amendments to the budget and what you can do to help support them.

Key Budget Line Items:

0640-0300 Massachusetts Cultural Council $ 14,034,982 (The final House Budget funded the MCC at $14,500,699 and the Governor level it funded at $13,950,699)

7008-0900 Massachusetts Marketing Partnership  $848,176 (This line item has several earmarks in it, while the final House Budget and Governor funded at this line item at$163,176)

7008-1300 For the operation of the Massachusetts International Trade
Office ……………………. $111,074   (Same as the final House Budget and the Governor’s budget)

7117-0100 For the Massachusetts College of Art……..  18,711,090  (Both the final House Budget and the Governor’s budget funded this line item at $18,078,201)
