Anti-Film Tax Credit MA House Budget Amendments Defeated!
This week the Massachusetts House of Representative began its debate on the state budget. Yesterday we updated you about the successful amendment restoring the MCC’s budget. While the House Budget released on April 15th did not contain any changes to the film and television incentive program, two budget amendments (Amendments 997 and 1054) were filed that would have weakened and/or repealed the film tax production tax incentive.
We are happy to report that those two amendments were defeated!
While support in the House for the film community is very strong, it was key that Representatives heard from you!

Advocacy Update
House Budget Amendments
Thanks to your hundreds and hundreds of emails on Monday the House of Representatives swiftly rejected the repeal of the film production tax incentive that was filed as an amendment to the state budget. Congratulations and great work!
THERE IS A LOT MORE ADVOCACY TO DO
The Senate budget will be released on May 13th. This budget and/or possible amendments could include changes to, or a repeal of the film and television tax incentive program. Also the Governor’s proposal House Bill 62 to eliminate the film incentive has yet to be released from the Joint Committee on Revenue as they are still examining the bill.
We will keep you informed of the issues and actions you can take to keep our industry in Massachusetts. Most importantly, please register early, and attend the Save MA Film Jobs Lobby Day planned for Tuesday, May 12th if you are able to. It is also important that you register in advance if possible so we can have a packet prepared for you at the State House with the name and room number of your state Representative and Senator.
