About MASSCreative (via idealist.org):

Mission: MASSCreative advocates for funding for nonprofit arts, humanities, and sciences in Massachusetts. MASSCreative works to build and maintain a vital network of arts and culture organizations, businesses, creative entrepreneurs, artists and sector supporters and builds strategic alliances across sectors. A primary focus is to advocate for the nonprofit cultural sector – through state funding for Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund.

Background: The creative sector has a profound social and economic impact on the quality of life in Massachusetts by engaging community in all aspects of the arts, cultivating a shared civic culture, creating vibrant places and addressing the educational and developmental needs of youth. Artists, creative entrepreneurs, arts and cultural non-profits and businesses all contribute to the vitality of the Massachusetts economy by creating jobs, catalyzing innovation and new ways of thinking, drawing visitors and generating revenue.

MASSCreative has been established to create a positive growth environment for artists, non-profit arts organizations and creative entrepreneurs. Through the creation of an Action Network we will build and maintain a vital statewide network of arts and culture organizations, businesses and creative entrepreneurs; building strategic alliances across sectors; and working with public agencies at the local, state and federal levels to increase and expand public and private resources for culture and the arts.
