AUD thanks the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development
The artist attendees who gathered for the annual photo surround our legislators who attended:
L to R (Center): Rep Chris Walsh, Rep. Sarah Peake, Sen. Eileen Donoghue, and Rep Paul McMurtry.
The Artists Under the Dome attendees thank members of the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development for their valued participation in the sixth annual Artists Under the Dome event, Nov. 8, 2012, at the Massachusetts State House.
Speaking were: Representative Peake and Senator Donoghue, co-chairs, and Representative McMurtry, vice-chair; all members of the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development. Also speaking was Senator Jack Hart, Assistant Majority Leader. We thank them for their sincere and passionate commitment to the arts in Massachusetts.
Legislators who attended but did not speak: Senator Michael Rodrigues, Representative Chris Walsh, and Representative Alice Wolf.
Unable to attend were State Treasurer and Receiver General Steven Grossman (due to an illness, regrettably) and Representative David T. Vieir, Member of the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts & Cultural Development (also slated to speak but not able to make it in from the Cape due to the Nor’easter that knocked out his power).
A favorite of the afternoon was the Fair Trade Means Fair Trade panel in the Great Hall that addressed fair treatment of artists and their work in the Commonwealth and beyond.
Panelists were: Jocelyn Jones, Deputy Chief of the Attorney General’s Fair Labor Division; Helena Fruscio, Creative Economy Industry Director; Matt Wilson, Executive Director of MassCreative; Don Packer, President of Massachusetts Production Coalition (MPC); and Kelly Bennett, Exhibitions Curator/Program Coordinator Artist Fellowships, Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC).
Thank you all for attending and contributing to make the Sixth Annual Artists Under the Dome event a huge success!
