Important Advocacy Update regarding the MA Film Tax Credit!

April 6, 2015
An important update from the  Mass Production Coalition about the MA Film Tax Credit!

Thank you everyone who took the time to contact your state elected officials!

Also worth the read is what is happening in Florida – who/what is behind trying to stop the film tax incentive there:

Joint Revenue Committee Hearing of House Bill H.62

mpc logoDear MPC Members & Supporters,

We are very proud of our industry members, representatives, and supporters who testified or sent information to the Joint Committee on Revenue hearing on Tuesday regarding House Bill H.62. We are grateful to everyone who took time off to have their voice heard and support the proceedings.

Some positive messages that came from the hearing are that the two issues (the Earned Income Tax Credit and Film Tax Credit) are clearly being considered separately by the legislature, rather than linked together as the Governor’s proposal does. Many of the supporters who testified for the EITC are also supportive of the FTC, and do not want these issues combined. We will continue to provide you with updates on H.62 and the budget process as information becomes available.

We are pleased to share that the email campaign leading up to the committee hearing generated over 3,500 emails to Senators and House Representatives, and over 1,200 additional emails in the campaign on the day of the hearing. Great work by all who submitted and shared the message.

THANK YOUR LEGISLATORS FROM THE COMMITTEE HEARING

If you live in a district of the following legislators who offered testimony or support for the industry during the Revenue Committee hearing, please take a moment to call (or write) and thank them.

UPCOMING ADVOCACY & HOW TO PARTICIPATE

The debate that will occur in both the House and Senate budget process will absolutely require further advocacy and participation at the State House. We are also planning a Lobby Day in May with other industry stakeholders and that will be an extremely important forum when all of our industry members and supporters must be mobilized to attend and participate.

JOIN US FOR THE SPRING MPC MEETING

We will have advocacy updates and news from the State House in addition to a reception and great lineup of local film presentations for the Spring MPC Meeting at Boston University on April 15th. Register early: spring-mpc-meeting-2015.eventbrite.com.
