Job Posting: MassCreative Organizer!

October 5, 2014

From Matt Wilson, Executive Director, MASSCreative:

As you all know, MASSCreative is building a grassroots advocacy organization to support the arts and cultural community in Massachusetts.

The arts community has truly been an agent for change here in the state, helping to revitalize cities from Pittsfield to Lowell and impacting the lives of many who have used arts to help focus their lives and careers.

We are looking to hire a top notch organizer to help us roll out our organizing plan this fall. It is an exciting and passionate community to work with and has lots of potential. We will be doing our public kickoff in October and are looking for someone to come on staff around Labor Day.

Please pass this along to anyone who may be interested in doing some groundbreaking organizing work to support and arts and cultural community. Please forward me any potential candidates with whom I should follow up.

Hope to see you all soon.

Matt

The Campaign seeks an energetic and talented organizer to recruit, train and mobilize a statewide network of supporters committed to using the arts and cultural community as a driver for building vibrant communities and economies.

  • Manage field interns
  • Utilize social media tools to engage our base and monitor their activities
  • Build a leadership steering committee of grassroots leaders
  • Help develop and lead statewide, regional and local advocacy campaigns
  • Broadcast compelling stories of individuals and regions that have been energized by the arts

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Passion and a commitment for advocating for the arts and cultural community
  • Experience in grassroots volunteer recruitment, training and management
  • Experience with database management and social media tools

  • Demonstrated ability to build and mobilize a group of people around a project or campaign
  • Desire to work hard out in communities across the state with a team of eager and talented volunteers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel via car throughout the state
  • 2-5 years of experience as a full-time organizer or advocate in a progressive social change group

Location: Boston MA, with travel throughout Massachusetts
