MA House Ways & Means Budget 2020 (Part Two)
Yesterday the proposed 2020 House Ways and Means Budget was released. This is the second step in the Commonwealth’s budget process.

As we mentioned in Part One, the proposed House budget level funds the Mass Cultural Council and, for the most part, seems to echo the funding in the Governor’s proposed budget.
Amendments to the proposed House budget will need to be filed by the end of this week. We will post key amendments to the budget and what you can do to help support them.
MALC follows several line items in the State budget. In this post we highlight funding for the libraries.
Key Budget Line Items:
7000-9101 For the operation of the board of library commissioners…………. $1,322,130
(This is an increase, the Governor’s proposed funding at $1,314,774)
7000-9401 for State Aid to Regional Libraries……………$10,384,961
(Same as the Governor’s $10,384,961 proposed)
7000-9501 Public Libraries Local Aid………….$9,456,327
(Same as the Governor’s funding at $9,456,327)
7000-9506 For the technology and automated resource sharing networks……………$3,259,000
(This is an increase as the Governor’s proposed $2,848,279)
7000-9508 Center for the talking book…………….$200,000
(The Governor level funded it at $200,000 as did the House Ways & Means)
