The Massachusetts Artists Leaders Coalition (MALC) will hold its 9th Annual “Artists Under the Dome” event this Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Massachusetts State House. We’re excited for the day, expecting a big turnout, and hoping to see you there! It is free and open to the public.

In addition to providing networking opportunities for artist leaders in all disciplines, individual artists will meet with their legislators to address areas of concern. Speakers at the event include
Deborah Goldberg, State Treasurer
State Senator Eric Lesser and State Representative Cory Atkins, Chairman and Chairwoman of the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts & Cultural Development,
State Senator Eileen Donoghue
State Representative Smitty Pignatelli
State Representative Sarah Peake
State Representative Chris Walsh
Anita Walker, Massachusetts Cultural Council Executive Director
Kathleen Bitetti, MALC Co-Founder
An afternoon roundtable discussion facilitated by Kathleen Bitetti and Malia Lazu of Future Boston Alliance will include other legislative team members and members of Governor Charlie Baker’s administration within the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development:
Katie Stebbins, Assistant Secretary of Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Lisa Strout, Director of the Massachusetts Film Office
Richard Dalton, Regional Director Greater Boston, Massachusetts Office of Business Development
Please be advised that speakers may be added to the morning and/or afternoon sessions and that the schedule is subject to change. MALC brings together artist leaders of all disciplines and artist run advocacy organizations/initiatives. The all-volunteer group focuses on key state-wide issues facing Massachusetts artists working in all disciplines.
Though participants may have different perspectives on how best to address the issues facing our community, we are all committed to improving the social and economic position of all Massachusetts artists. Our goal is to empower our community, support our artist leaders, and to mentor new artist leaders. We want to ensure that artists are at the policy making table. Please add your voice to the discussion and join us this Wednesday at the State House!
Please note, Future Boston Alliance’s “The Artists Under the Dome Debrief: How to Claim a Seat at the Table,” scheduled for later in the evening, has been canceled.
