MALC Reminder to Vote on Tuesday, Nov. 5th and more!

November 7, 2013

Some key reminders:

[dropcap type=”simple” color=”black”]1[/dropcap] Remember to Vote on Tuesday, November 5th if there are elections in your city/town!

Where to find out to vote in the Commonwealth:  http://www.wheredoivotema.com/bal/myelectioninfo.aspx

If you live in Boston and/or have friends who live in Boston – remind them to vote (for the primary election there was just over 30 percent of eligible voters who voted!!)

MALC has a Boston Mayoral Candidate Policy Analysis:

[dropcap type=”simple” color=”black”]2[/dropcap]Written testimony is needed by the end of the day on Friday, November 8th in  support of a piece of legislation that will help move Massachusetts’ educational programs from STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics).

The legislation is: House Bill 2994 – Resolve establishing a commission to study the inclusion of arts in STEM related programs.

Link to the legislation: https://malegislature.gov/Bills/188/House/H2994

[dropcap type=”simple” color=”black”]3[/dropcap]Register to come to the 7th Annual Artists Under the Dome Event at the Massachusetts State House on Wednesday, November 13th from 10am to 2pm!

[dropcap type=”simple” color=”black”]4[/dropcap]Save the Date: A  hearing  for the Anti-coop housing legislation (An Act Relative to Eligibility for Cooperative Housing Corporations HB 1143/SB5 96)  has been scheduled  by the Joint Committee on Housing.  This hearing will take place on November 14th at 10:00 AM in Room B-1.

As it was last session, it is absolutely critical for housing coop supporters to be at the hearing testifying in opposition to the bill and/or to send in written testimony. MALC will follow up next week with how to craft your testimony and where to send it.  It is extremely important that we show the Committee members the wide breadth of opposition to HB1143/SB596.

MALC is putting together a panel to testify in opposition to this legislation. If you would like to testify with us, please contact MALC at: malc@ArtistsUndertheDome.org

[note color=”#61ef69″]Please pass this information on to anyone in Massachusetts who supports artists, arts, culture and the creative economy![/note]

A democracy only works when the people take part!

Sincerely,

The MALC Steering Committee
