UP Program News: New Staff and Deadline Extension

The Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) is pleased to announce our new UP Program Officer, Charles Baldwin. Charles comes to the MCC from Wheelock Family Theatre where he served as the Director of Marketing and Operations and where he worked extensively on developing and promoting accessible/inclusive programs and offerings for audiences and artists. Charles has also served on the Executive Board of Cultural Access New England (CANE) since 2010 to promote inclusion at cultural organizations across the state. We are thrilled to have Charles animate the UP Program with his passion and enthusiasm for the work and hope you will join us in welcoming him!

Charles will join the MCC team at the end of November. As a result, we are extending the deadline to apply for the UP Designation and the Innovation and Learning Network to Monday, December 7.

UP Program Information

The goal of UP is to support the growth and development of organizations that recognize the power of inclusive design to grow audiences and enhance cultural experiences for all. The intent is to generate transformational experiences for UP participants that will not only build capacity, but fuel insight and action. UP will also reward innovation in order to recognize the great work being done in Massachusetts. UP recognizes that accessibility is, and should be, a work in progress.

Organizations interested in participating in UP can:

• Take part in the Innovation and Learning Network (ILN), an exciting peer network where you can develop your own inclusive initiative with the support of experts in the field and a $3,000 stipend to participate. Deadline to apply 12/7/15.

• Apply for UP Designation to honor and celebrate your organization’s inclusive culture and connect with other leaders in the field. Deadline to apply 12/7/15.

• Get funding for a User/Expert Site Review to learn what you are doing well, and where you can make improvements, large and small. Application opens 11/19/15, first-come, first-served.

Guidelines and application instructions are available on MCC’s website.
