2019 Proposed House Ways & Means Budget Released (Part Two)

Yesterday the proposed 2019 House Ways and Means Budget was released. This is the second step in the Commonwealth’s budget process.

As we mentioned in Part One, the proposed House budget level funds the Mass Cultural Council and for the most part seems to echo the funding in the Governor’s proposed budget. There is no change Commonwealth’s Film Tax Credit program. There was also no change in the Tourism Trust Fund which means that the State’s Regional Tourism Councils were level funded.

Amendments to the proposed House budget will need to be filed by the end of this week. MALC will post key amendments to the budget and what you can do to help support them.

From the MCC: House Committee Proposes Level Funding for Arts, Humanities & Sciences

The House Ways and Means Committee released a budget proposal for the coming fiscal year recommending just under $14 million for the arts, humanities, and sciences through the Mass Cultural Council. State Rep Cory Atkins plans to file an amendment to increase funding for the Mass Cultural Council to $17 million.
