Boston: Pack the Courtroom Tuesday for Friends of Berkshire Museum / Save the Art!

March 17, 2018

A definitive hearing will take place at noon, Tuesday, March 20, 2018, before Associate Justice David A. Lowy of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, who will either allow the Berkshire Museum’s liquidation sale, or call for an investigation and ruling by a higher court. Oral arguments will be heard, taking approximately 40 minutes.

As reported by The Berkshire Eagle, attorneys representing Berkshire County residents and several other “friend of the court” briefs will speak before Justice Lowy, as will attorneys representing the museum and Maura Healey’s AG office.

Take Action TODAY to Preserve the Johnson Amendment and Nonprofit Nonpartisanship

A new threat to the Johnson Amendment and the nonpartisanship of the nonprofit sector requires action of Massachusetts nonprofits and their supporters. Congressional leadership wants to pass an omnibus spending bill this week. The threat that one or more Congresspersons could attach a rider to the omnibus spending bill that significantly weakens the protections enshrined in the Johnson Amendment is very real. It is with a very heavy heart that I share the sad news of the loss of MALC Steering Committee member, Liora Beer. She was a dear friend to me and to so, so many others. Liora was a staunch advocate for artists of all disciplines. She was an accomplished artist who worked in many media: painting, sculpture, drawing, metals/jewelry, etc. (more…)
