The agency will invest the additional resources in nonprofit organizations, communities, artists, schools and creative youth development. The budget also preserved language that ensures Mass Cultural Council can continue its growing range of services to communities and nonprofits as part of its strategic plan.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Once again our cultural community made a strong and unified case for the public value of the arts, humanities, and sciences<\/em>,\u201d said <strong>Anita Walker, Mass Cultural Council Executive Director<\/strong>. \u201c<em>We are grateful to the Legislature for recognizing the power of culture to build prosperity and elevate the quality of life in the communities they represent.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joined by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mass-creative.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MASSCreative<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/masshumanities.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mass Humanities<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/artistsunderthedome.org\/malc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mass Artists Leaders Coalition<\/a>, and thousands of advocates statewide, Mass Cultural Council urged lawmakers to continue investing in the Commonwealth\u2019s burgeoning cultural sector that has an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arts.gov\/artistic-fields\/research-analysis\/arts-data-profiles\/arts-data-profile-17\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">economic impact of more than $21 billion, or 4.3 percent of state gross domestic product, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/massculturalcouncil.org\/blog\/mass-legislature-approves-budget-boosting-cultural-funding-by-2m\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Read the full press release here!<\/a><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>07.22.2019 Mass Cultural Council Press Release Today the state Legislature approved a budget for the new fiscal year that boosts funding for the arts, humanities, and sciences through Mass Cultural Council by $2 million.
