City Councilors Annissa Essabi-George, Matt O’Malley, and Kim Janey will be hosting a hearing on Docket #0499, A Hearing Regarding Improving Access to Workspace and Live-Work Spaces for Artists in the City of Boston<\/strong> on Wednesday, November 13th at 12pm<\/strong> in the Iannella Chamber on the 5th floor of City Hall.<\/strong><\/p>\n

You are invited to participate by attending the hearing, publicly testifying and\/or submitting written testimony regarding this topic. If you are unable to attend, this hearing will be live streamed<\/a> and will be available to view online at any time.<\/p>\n

Important for Artists\u00a0who Live and\/or Work in Boston to Appear or Submit Testimony!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Boston is our Commonwealth’s capitol city and it should be leading the way in creating permanent and affordable work, live\/work, and performance\/rehearsal spaces. \u00a0Artists from across the Commonwealth do contribute to the Boston cultural experience and creative economy as small creative businesses and through creating murals, open studios, film production and screenings, teaching, and performances, etc. Our community needs permanent work\/studio spaces as well as affordable permanent live\/work spaces.<\/p>\n

Participating in Public Testimony<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the entrance of the Iannella Chamber, day of the hearing, there will be sign-in sheets. You may check off the box that states you wish to publicly testify. At the end of the hearing, the Chair will call your name. You may come up to one of the podiums and will be asked to state your name, affiliation\/residence, and that your remarks on the topic of discussion be 2 minutes or less.<\/p>\n

Submitting Written Testimony<\/strong><\/p>\n

Written testimony can be submitted through email or mail and there is no length requirement. You may write your concerns, outline questions you have, share your experience, etc., regarding the topic of discussion. Be sure to include your name, your artistic discipline, and indicate if your live and\/or work in Boston (i.e. if your perform in Boston- have an art work space, etc)<\/p>\n

Written testimony can be submitted at any time to Committee Liaison, Juan Lopez, at juan.lopez@boston.gov<\/a>. Copies will be made of your submitted testimony and shared with the Councilors. It will also be added into the record.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
