Thank you to all MALC members and supporters who joined <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americansforthearts.org\/news-room\/legislative-news\/nea-funding-restored\" target=\"_blank\">Americans for the Arts<\/a> in telling Congress to stop the cuts.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to restore the funds was led by\u00a0Interior Subcommittee Chairman Ken Calvert (R-CA) and Ranking Member Nita Lowey (D-NY).\u00a0This is a great example of bipartisan support for the arts and humanities.\u00a0It is also a valuable lesson for arts advocates as it underscores how imperative it is to respectfully and consistently engage <em>all<\/em> elected officials, no matter their party affiliation, when advocating for artists\u2019 rights, arts &amp; culture funding, and the creative economy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a bipartisan move, the\u00a0U.S. House of Representatives Interior Appropriations Subcommittee on Tuesday rejected a proposal to cut $8 million from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).
