MALC is the artists working group for the Commonwealth\u2019s <strong>Creative Economy Council<\/strong> and in 2009 we gave our recommendations to the CEC (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.artistsunderthedome.org\/art_leaders.html\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.artistsunderthedome.org\/art_leaders.html<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>In February 2014, we released a <a href=\"https:\/\/dl.dropboxusercontent.com\/u\/967656\/2014%20MALC%20Challenge%20for%20Arts%2C%20Culture%2C%20and%20Creative%20Economy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">policy recommendation<\/a> paper for the state\u2019s gubernatorial candidates. MALC spent the summer and fall of 2014 focused on both the minutiae and the big picture of statewide and local political election races. Through our \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/artistsunderthedome.org\/malc\/category\/get-your-vote-on\/\" target=\"_blank\">Get Your Vote On!<\/a>\u201d series, we ran pieces breaking down the races for Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, and Treasurer, as well as federal and state district races.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #008080;\">DIYA &#8211; Do It Yourself Adovcacy!<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>We will all need to advocate for what we proposed almost a year ago in <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/artistsunderthedome.org\/malc\/news\/the-malc-challenge-for-the-next-governor-be-a-champion-of-arts-culture-and-the-creative-economy\/\">MALC\u2019s Governor\u2019s Challenge<\/a><\/strong>. Funding for arts and culture will more than likely be on the line due to the State budget short falls. Bills and regulations that could benefit or negatively impact the lives of artists are in the pipeline for 2015.<\/p>\n<p>MALC is launching its \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/artistsunderthedome.org\/malc\/category\/diya\/\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>DIYA-Do It Yourself Advocacy!<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u201d series in 2015 to focus on the budget process, key State House news\/changes in leadership, and any and all legislation that impacts Massachusetts artists of all disciplines, art, culture, and the creative economy. Our series is set to post in January 2015.
