If approved by Congress, this would be the 5th year of level funding for the NEA.<\/p>\n<p>All the cultural institutions, like the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Smithsonian Institution, also are proposed at level funding.<\/p>\n<p>The good news is that unlike the past two years, the subcommittee is no longer targeting the NEA for funding cuts. As you may recall, last year, the House subcommittee proposed an $8 million cut, and the year before, nearly halving the agency&#8217;s budget! Those cuts are not on the table this year.<\/p>\n<h4>You can help advocate for increased funding for the NEA<\/h4>\n<p>[blockquote align=&#8221;right&#8221;]This funding would also help support the Healing Arts Partnership work with Walter Reed for military service members and their families, which was requested at $2.4 million.[\/blockquote]Both the House and the Senate are anticipated to consider this legislation in full committee as soon as next week, where amendments will be offered. <strong>There may be an opportunity to increase funding for the NEA to match the President&#8217;s request.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As you may recall, in February, <strong>the President requested an additional $2 million for the NEA, increasing its budget to $148 million.<\/strong> This funding would also help support the Healing Arts Partnership work with Walter Reed for military service members and their families, which was requested at $2.4 million.<\/p>\n<p>Please take minutes to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.votervoice.net\/ARTSUSA\/Campaigns\/41343\/Respond\">share your support<\/a> of the NEA to your representatives and <strong>help ensure the NEA continues to receive at least level funding<\/strong>.
