Three members of the House of Representatives and three members of the Senate will serve on the conference committee. They will discuss any and all differences between the two chambers&#8217; budget proposals and create a compromise Fiscal Year 2017 budget the full legislature can agree on.<\/p>\n<p>According to the office of State Representative\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/malegislature.gov\/People\/Profile\/C_A1\" target=\"_blank\">Cory Atkins<\/a>, Co-Chairwoman of the\u00a0Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development, the following representatives and senators will serve on the conference committee (Note: they also served on the Conference Committee for last year&#8217;s FY 2016 Budget):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>State Representative <a href=\"https:\/\/malegislature.gov\/People\/Profile\/BSD1\" target=\"_blank\">Brian Dempsey<\/a>, Chairman of the\u00a0House Committee on Ways and Means and Co-Chairman of the\u00a0Joint Committee on Ways and Means<\/li>\n<li>State Senator\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/malegislature.gov\/People\/Profile\/KES0\" target=\"_blank\">Karen Spilka<\/a>,\u00a0Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means and Co-Chairwoman of the\u00a0Joint Committee on Ways and Means<\/li>\n<li>State Representative\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/malegislature.gov\/People\/Profile\/S_K1\" target=\"_blank\">Stephen Kulik<\/a>,\u00a0Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means and Co-Vice\u00a0Chairman of the Joint Committee on Ways and Means<\/li>\n<li>State Senator\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/malegislature.gov\/People\/Profile\/SND0\" target=\"_blank\">Sal DiDomenico<\/a>, Vice Chairman of\u00a0Senate Committee on Ways and Means and Co-Vice Chairman of the\u00a0Joint Committee on Ways and Means<\/li>\n<li>State Representative <a href=\"https:\/\/malegislature.gov\/People\/Profile\/TMS2\" target=\"_blank\">Todd Smola<\/a>, Member of the\u00a0\u00a0House Committee on Ways and Means and Co-Chairman of the\u00a0Joint Committee on Ways and Means<\/li>\n<li>State Senator\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/malegislature.gov\/People\/Profile\/VMD0\" target=\"_blank\">Viriato deMacedo<\/a>, Member or the Senate Committee on Ways and Means<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once the conference committee drafts a compromise bill, the full legislature will vote on it. Once approved, the legislature&#8217;s budget proposal will be sent to Governor Charlie Baker. The governor will have 10 days to review it. He may then approve or veto the entire budget, veto or change individual line items, veto non-monetary &#8220;outside sections,&#8221; or submit amendments to the budget.
