{"id":6097,"date":"2016-06-30T06:27:13","date_gmt":"2016-06-30T10:27:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artistsunderthedome.org\/malc\/?p=6097"},"modified":"2016-06-30T06:27:13","modified_gmt":"2016-06-30T10:27:13","slug":"quick-state-budget-update-conference-committee-released-budget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/artistsunderthedome.org\/malc\/news\/quick-state-budget-update-conference-committee-released-budget\/","title":{"rendered":"Quick State Budget Update: Conference Committee Released Its Budget"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Late last night the Conference Committee released it budget.<\/p>\n<p>According to the office of State Representative\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/malegislature.gov\/People\/Profile\/C_A1\" target=\"_blank\">Cory Atkins<\/a>, Co-Chairwoman of the\u00a0Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development,- the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) was close to\/or was level funded.<\/p>\n<p>MALC will report further on funding for the MCC, libraries, etc. \u00a0when more details on the conference committee budget are available.<\/p>\n<p><em>Refresher on the State Budget Process:<\/em> Once the conference committee drafts a compromise bill- ie their budget, the full legislature (both the House and Senate) will vote on it. Once approved, the legislature&#8217;s budget proposal will be sent to Governor Charlie Baker. The governor will have 10 days to review it. He may then approve or veto the entire budget, veto or change individual line items, veto non-monetary &#8220;outside sections,&#8221; or submit amendments to the budget.
