\"MCCThe Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) seeks nominations for the 2017 Commonwealth Awards<\/a>, the state\u2019s highest honor in the arts, humanities, and sciences.<\/p>\n

Presented every two years by the MCC, the awards recognize both the well-known and the unsung heroes who contribute to our quality of life in Massachusetts through their creativity, commitment, and public spirit. This year\u2019s Commonwealth Awards ceremony will be held at the Massachusetts State House on February 15, 2017 at 2pm.<\/p>\n

The deadline for nominations is Friday, October 28 at noon. Winners will be notified in late November.<\/p>\n

Leadership<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 For the leader of a nonprofit cultural organization, school, or community who has shown extraordinary commitment to serving the public.<\/p>\n

Creative Community<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 For a city, town, or community-based organization that has demonstrated the central role of arts and culture in building healthier, more vital, more livable communities.<\/p>\n

Achievement<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 For an individual or cultural organization whose creative achievements have uniquely enriched life in Massachusetts.<\/p>\n

Creative Youth Development<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 For an individual, school, or cultural organization that has successfully helped young people develop their creative potential, foster critical learning and life skills, and become active contributors to their communities.<\/p>\n

Cultural Philanthropy<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 For an individual, corporation, or foundation that has made lasting contributions to the cultural life of Massachusetts through charitable giving.<\/p>\n

Media<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 For an individual or media organization that has demonstrated outstanding support of the cultural community in Massachusetts by telling its stories to the broader public.<\/p>\n

Access<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 For exceptional organizations or programs that make the arts, humanities, and\/or sciences accessible and inclusive for older adults, individuals with disabilities, and other underserved populations.<\/p>\n
