\"arts<\/a>As many readers know, congress passed the “Every Student Succeeds Act” last December. As a consequence, every state in the USA must revise its Accountability and Assistance Plan by this coming spring. This is a golden opportunity for the arts to be included in all states.<\/p>\n

The arts – music, dance, drama, visual arts, media arts – are specifically named as important subjects for a “well-rounded” education. The new ESSA law also states that states may expand their accountability plans to include other measures of student and school success in addition to traditional standardized testing in math, ELA, and science.<\/p>\n

Check with your state Department of Education and take part in including the arts as an important aspect of your state’s new Accountability and Assistance Plan. Look below to see what Massachusetts is doing in this regard.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
