MALC is actively following the Commonwealth’s FY18 budget process.\u00a0We watch \u00a0for several “line items” in the budget- the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), funding to our libraries, the tourism funding formula, and the film tax credit program. We also monitor what is\u00a0filed in the “outside” section(s) of the budget.<\/span><\/p>\n

The second\u00a0step in our\u00a0state budget process is the release of the House’s proposed budget which is set to release it on Monday, April 10th. <\/span><\/p>\n

The House Committee on Ways & Means is responsible for this draft budget<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Amendments to House’s\u00a0proposed FY18\u00a0<\/span>budget will need to be filed by noon on Thursday, April 13th.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Monday, the MALC Steering Committee will carefully go over the House’s propose budget and we will post what we find and what advocacy actions will be needed.<\/span><\/p>\n
