Mass Cultural Council<\/a> will be featuring four artistic traditions from the many vital contributions by our immigrant communities<\/a> whom Massachusetts has welcomed throughout its history.<\/p>\n

Featured performances include:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • A traditional Chinese Lion Dance<\/strong>\u00a0will be performed by members of Boston\u2019s Gund Kwok Asian Lion and Dragon Dance Troupe<\/strong>, led by Sifu Cheng Imm Tan<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • A\u00a0Nepalese<\/b>\u00a0group will perform music of the Gandharvas, featuring\u00a0Shyam Nepali<\/b> on sarangi (bowed string instrument), Sushil Gautam<\/strong> on murchunga (jaw harp) and medal (hand drum), Ranjan Budhathoki<\/strong> on bansuri (bamboo flute), and Raj Kapoor<\/strong> on medal (who will also perform\u00a0the Lakhe Mask Dance).<\/li>\n
  • Vasili’s\u00a0Kostas\u00a0<\/strong>of Greece, accompanied by\u00a0George Lernis, a percussionist originally from Cypress, and James Dale, a string bass player from Australia,\u00a0will perform Vasili’s original compositions of traditional Greek folk music.<\/li>\n
  • Old school salsa fused with Latin Jazz and Afro Caribbean rhythms will be performed by\u00a0Costa Rican vocalist Manolo Mairena<\/strong> and\u00a0Venezuelan\u00a0trombonist \u00c1ngel\u00a0Subzero of Latin Logic<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
