Guide for the September 4th Massachusetts Primaries<\/h4>\n

Part Three \u2013 the Massachusetts State Constitutional races for
\nAttorney General, State Treasurer, State Auditor, and Secretary of State<\/strong><\/h5>\n

As mentioned in our August 7th blog post<\/a>, the Massachusetts primary elections take place this year on Tuesday, September 4th<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We encourage you to visit Ballotpedia, a great, free resource for the 2018 primary (September 4th) and the 2018 general election (November 6th):
\n<\/span>https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Massachusetts_elections,_2018<\/a><\/p>\n

All the elected officials who currently hold their seats for these four Constitutional Offices (AG, Treasurer, State Auditor, and Secretary of State) are running to be re-elected. These are state-wide seats and\u00a0this means that anyone who is registered to vote in Massachusetts can and should vote in these four primary election races.<\/strong><\/p>\n

MALC once again urges the candidates and their campaigns to create a platform for our sector and to take the time to read the MALC 2016 Labor policy paper<\/strong> and the 2018 By Artists, For Artists <\/i>report<\/strong>.\u00a0 <\/span>If you are volunteering or working on any campaigns, urge your campaign to create a platform and refer to the two publications mentioned above and linked below.<\/p>\n

The Attorney General\u2019s Race<\/b><\/p>\n

There is only one Democrat running and that is the current Attorney General (the incumbent). There are two Republican candidates running for the seat. Thus, the September 4th primary will decide which of the two Republican candidates will face off in the general election against our current Attorney General.<\/p>\n

There are two Democrats running for this seat. \u00a0By all accounts this Democratic primary is a very competitive race (i.e., your vote really matters).<\/strong> There is one Republican candidate and one Green Party candidate running for this seat. The September 4th primary will decide which of the two Democratic candidates will be on the ballot the general election in November.<\/em><\/p>\n
