Call your Rep to restore Arts Funding by this Friday noon!
Yes, make that Friday the 13th call by noon!
Urge Your Rep. Today to Restore Funding for Arts, Humanities & Sciences
Yesterday the Massachusetts House Committee on Ways & Means proposed a budget that would cut funding for the arts, humanities, and sciences by $1.2 million, or 13 percent.
The MCC has already weathered a 30 percent reduction in funding since 2009. An additional cut of this magnitude for fiscal 2013 would severely undermine our ability to support nonprofit cultural organizations, local cultural councils, school and youth programs, and artists.
Please take 5 minutes today to call your Massachusetts House Representative.Ask her or him to contact Rep. Sarah Peake of Provincetown before noon tomorrow and co-sponsor Rep. Peake’s amendment to restore MCC funding.
Our goal is to get as many Representatives to co-sponsor the amendment as possible.
Rep. Peake – House Chair of the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development – will file her amendment Friday, when it will be assigned a number. MCC will then send further updates to our constituents to support that amendment when the full House of Representatives takes up the Ways & Means budget April 23.
See MCC’s Advocacy Action Center for updates on the amendment.
